The second part of project NL, entitled the Quest for Abundance, examined the abundance–problematized as the contemporary challenge for the Netherlands–in three categories, namely resourcefulness, redundancy, and riches.
In response to the rising awareness of digital footprints in the Netherlands, the individual contribution envisaged a local, self-host data storage structure that makes the spatial deployment of digital infrastructure directly connected to every day social lives.
This video is the result of a joint research with M. Tjia on the physical infrastructure of the cloud services in the Netherlands, covering power grids, datacenters, and submarine cable networks. Using the format of the renowned film Power of Ten by Eames Office, this video revealed the scale of digital activities from a smartphone screen all the way to a shallow area in the North Sea.
